Let me say that while I never had to deal with OCD, I was a 30 year sufferer of generalized anxiety and debilitating panic attacks.

The reason as I understand it to be, is because the term disorder implies that you have a decease. Anxiety propelled obsessive behaviour is not an illness.

Levels of OCD

Mild – the degree can be as slight as compulsively be neat and having everything in it’s perfect place.

That sense of calm doesn’t last long however because it’s not real. Just another habitual action you take to make yourself think your not losing your mind.

So according to my research, if you have OCD, you have high to very high anxiety! We all do many obsessive and compulsive things in our life but we do not have an illness, do we? Getting married 5 times in 5 years I would say is compulsive and obsessive perhaps, but hardly ranks as a “decease”.

Understanding. This is important in the first step to getting help. Yes, you can be helped. And regardless of  however many years you have already been suffering from it, positive changes can happen. Not overnight however. So accept that you “will” be helped and that in total, it will take a little time.

Then there are the severe anxious thoughts. I understand from Barry is that they can be very alarming in many cases. Be he also says they will not hurt you, though it feels that way. It is the heightened anxiety allowing your creative minds imagination to take control of the real reality. These thoughts may be very intense because they may be about something you care very much about. But the more you react to them, the worse it gets. “What you resist persists”.

Just a thought, but what if OCD, by itself, does not exist. What I mean to suggest is the real important factor in OCD treatment, it would seem, is getting rid of your high anxiety, which appears to be the underlying root cause.

Finally let me say that if your OCD level is so great that you are already on medication, then a natural treatment will work in combination with your meds. And the hope would be that sooner rather than later, your Doctor will slowly take you off the medications and the natural OCD help you  will have taken their place.
