The One Move Technique – Ending Panic Attacks

The benefit for me was a simple but extremely effective application called the One Move Technique. This natural one move techniqueanxiety relief was created by Barry Joe McDonagh, Founder of  The Panic Away Program.

The One Move Technique is used without medications which was a great benefit.  Most people who seek professional help are having the symptoms of anxiety and panic treated and not the root core issues that bring about the panic attacks.

Treating the symptoms is a great but you also need to treat the root cause(s) if you want to get rid of the anxiety and panic attacks for good.

Some Key Steps in the One Move Technique

  • Understanding – there’s no panic if there’s no perceived threat.
  • Observing the fear.
  • Process the fear. And you start by doing the following.
  • Embracing the fear and allowing the emotions and sensations you feel to run freely through you
  • Demand more – sounds strange but when you have embraced your fear you are now calling out to your panic attacks that you can handle it and you are not afraid.
  • Trust – have trust that you are safe and no harm will come to you. Trust that your fears are only perceived and do not exist in fact.

Going through anxiety and panic attacks are frightening experiences. Our thoughts are seemingly totally out of control, racing just as fast as our heart. As hard as we try to find ways of coping with these mounting sensations, it doesn’t work and we are left with added overwhelming feelings of exposure and helplessness.

Coping with your anxiety is not the way to go yet that coping is exactly the advice that so many millions of sufferers are receiving. These coping techniques are a dime a dozen and are just a mask to the real problem. The definition of panic attacks is an episode of incredibly intense fear or apprehension. A discrete period of intense fear or discomfort that comes on suddenly.

The fact is that this is a perceived attack of fear. Panic attacks by themselves are not harmful though they certainly do fell extremely painful and dangerous at the time. But those are feelings and not threats of danger. When you have an anxiety and panic attack your automatic response is to react in a protective way.

You fight back the crazy overwhelming sensations your body experiences. This fight or flight response serves only to create more intense feelings of panic and fear. The one move technique relieves you of this fight response by actually you accept your anxiety, not run from it.

Barry McDonagh discovered that by observing nature he could learn exactly how a cure could be found. To paraphrase Barry, the wind blows and the trees bend. The river flows around the rocks etc. Nature never struggles or resists. The point here is that everything flows with acceptance. The one move technique teaches you how to apply this concept towards your panic attacks. This is absolutely vital. If we resist we are helping to manufacture more struggles within our mind and body.
